ARPA-H
Also called: Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, ARPA-H Small Business Program
The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health is an HHS agency, set up in 2022 as an independent entity within NIH, that funds high-risk health research and issues its own SBIR and STTR contracts.
ARPA-H was authorized on March 15, 2022, by the FY 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act. It sits within NIH as an independent entity that reports directly to the HHS Secretary.
ARPA-H supports research ranging from molecular to societal scale, aiming to deliver health breakthroughs in years rather than decades. Its mission targets problems seen as too big, complex or high-risk for traditional funding or industry.
The ARPA-H Small Business program issues SBIR and STTR contracts under SBA policies and announces opportunities throughout the year. Solicitations are posted on SAM.gov, and unless a solicitation says otherwise, submissions go through the ARPA-H Solutions site, which needs registration.
