AFWERX STRATFI and TACFI

Also called: Strategic Funding Increase, Tactical Funding Increase, STRATFI/TACFI

Department of the Air Force SBIR/STTR programs run by AFWERX that add matched funding to Phase II efforts to help move them toward Phase III and fielded use.

STRATFI (Strategic Funding Increase) targets large-scale, strategic capabilities at the Department of the Air Force level. TACFI (Tactical Funding Increase) targets smaller-scale, tactical capabilities at the operational level.

Both are meant to close the gap between SBIR/STTR Phase II and Phase III, and both require the SBIR/STTR funds to be matched by other government funds, private funds, or both.

Eligible companies must be SBIR/STTR-eligible small businesses with an active or recently completed Phase II that has not already received a sequential Phase II. The submission is made by a government point of contact, not by the company.

AFWERX says the new Strategic Breakthrough award does not replace STRATFI/TACFI; the programs run alongside each other.
